Ainslie House is situated on the grounds of the Inasmuch Community in Sussex Inlet and residents lead a quality lifestyle.  You can be rest assured that as your life's journey incorporates requiring increased support, the friendly staff at Inasmuch will do as much as humanly possible to ensure that your needs are met and you have quality of life.

The top floor of Ainslie House has 13 beds plus a large balcony and BBQ area.

The middle floor has 17 beds and opens out into a garden area.

Is there Respite Care at Ainslie House

Yes. We have 1 dedicated respite bed in Ainslie House. Hence bookings are essential.

You can access respite for your loved one if:

  • If your loved one has been discharged from hospital and require more care prior to going home.
  • To give you a short break from your caring role.
  • If you become ill, we can provide respite until you are well again.
  • You want to take a holiday so you can come back refreshed, relaxed and tell your loved one your travel stories.

What Items Should I Pack for my Loved One Accessing Respite Care

There are a range of items you can pack for your loved one when accessing our Respite Care, these being:

  • Comfortable clothes. Please ensure all clothes have a name tag with your loved one's name on it.
  • Toiletries and Incontinence aids if required.
  • Medications which are packed in a Webster pack.
  • A medication chart signed sheet from your Pharmacist when your Webster pack is made up.

What Items will be Provided by Inasmuch

Inasmuch provides for every room:

  • Bed
  • Bedside Table
  • Easy Chair
  • All linen, towels and bedding.

Alternatively you have the choice to bring these items from the family home if you so choose.

You can also bring to ensure your family member's room is comfortable and enjoyable:

  • Photos of Loved Ones
  • Favourite Bed Spread
  • Favourite Easy Chair
  • Television
  • Radio
  • Touch Lamp/s

Please Note: Any electrical items are tested and tagged by our maintenance staff to ensure they are in good working order and not a fire hazard.

What Items Cannot be Brought into Ainslie House

We request residents avoid bringing various items with them. These being:

There are no cooking facilities in their room. Please avoid bringing any type of cooking equipment.

Also please avoid bringing any type of combustible fuel or liquids and such items.

Please be rest assured, the friendly staff will make tea, coffee and snacks for residents and their visitors.

What is the Food Like

Illawara Retirement Trust is contracted to deliver twice weekly, fresh food which is cooked/chilled.

Every Thursday is BBQ day at Ainslie House which is cooked onsite.

Hence you can be rest assured your meals will be fresh, nutritionally balanced and tasty into the bargain.

Inasmuch holds a license from the NSW Food Authority and an inspection is undertaken by the NSW Food Authority on an annual basis.  Part of this inspection is the Hazaard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).

Inasmuch is very proud to say we annually receive an A Pass, which is the highest category we can receive from the NSW Food Authority. 

Do I have to Organise Laundry Services

No.

We provide a laundry service and all laundry is washed and dried onsite.  At Ainslie House the laundry is undertaken every day.

All we ask is that you ensure all your family member's clothing items have a name tag with their name on it, so we can ensure we deliver them back safe and sound.

Alternatively if you prefer you can take your family member's laundry home to undertake.

Are their Any Stairs

Yes and No.

Ainslie House is on 3 levels with the second and third floors dedicated to residential care.

There is a lift to access both levels and we have Fire Escape Chairs to use for the residents if the fire escape stairs are required to be utilised.

What Activities Do Inasmuch Offer

Yes, there are. We want your family member to become a highly valued member of the Inasmuch Community.

Some activities include, however not limited to:

  • We have an activities programme which is facilitated by our Activities Recreation Officers.
  • Every afternoon there is a bus trip to Sussex Inlet and our lovely surrounding areas.
  • If your family member requires transportation to various medical appointments we are able transport them, at your their expense. The current cost is 35c per klm plus $28 per hour. However we do require one of our friendly staff member accompany your family member to their medical appointments.

Are there any pets at Ainslie House

Yes.

Jack and Jill are our resident budgies; and

Lulu and Possum our resident cats love the residents with their cat passion.

If you have a very well behaved, small family dog, visits can be arranged so your family member maintains contact.

Inasmuch retains the right to refuse any dog entry and all visits must be pre-arranged with the staff.

Please note:  No family pet can reside permanently onsite.

If there is an Emergency how can my Family Member Get Help

All resident's rooms at Ainslie House can be silently alarmed, including any part of the room. For example: if your family member regularly wanders from their room, the door to the room can be alarmed; or if s/he requires assistance in the bathroom, the bathroom door can be alarmed to alert the staff.

The alarm can be as sensitive as required by individual residents based on their individual needs.

All beds are hospital beds and can be lowered to the lowest height required.

There are crash mats to reduce the risk of residents injuring themselves.

Inasmuch philosophy is to implement and practice the least restrictive environment, therefore we prefer to explore every other alternative option available to avoid using any type of physical restraints.

 

What are the Costs

For a permanent room in Ainslie House the maximum price is $260,000 

You will need to undergo an Assets test from the relevant government department, i.e. Centrelink if you are a pensioner.

However, if your assets are assessed as less than $46,500 you can obtain a concession and only pay the normal daily fee. This fee is set by the government and as at 5th March 2016 it is 84% of your pension. This fee is called the Residential Care Basic Daily Care Fee.

If your assets are assessed as higher than $46,500 you have 3 payment options, these being:

RAD - Refundable Accommodation Deposit - Pay the full $260,000 and this is fully refunded.
DAP - Daily Accommodation Fee, however there is no refund.

A Combination of both the RAD and the DAP - where the RAD part is refunded however the DAP part is not.

Please Note: With your assets test the government designates you must be left with $46,500 worth of assets to be managed by you or your designated Power of Attorney. For example: if your assets are valued at $150,000 then only $10,3500 is considered as part of the assets assessment for residency at Ainslie House.

For Respite Care the Daily Care Fee currently is set at $48.25 per day.

Do Staff Sleep Over

No.

All our staff are what is called "Stand Up" Staff on a 24/7 basis. They do not sleep over when they are on night shift.

There is a 'floater' shift person who works between both floors of Ainslie House to support the night staff, in case of emergency.

Are Staff Trained

Absolutely.

All staff hold a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Aged Care. They also receive ongoing training, including undertaking annual or bi-annual mandatory training.

Ainslie House has 24/7 coverage by a Registered Nurse:

  • Mondays to Fridays 
  • And on call after hours and on Weekends if required.

Hence you will know that your loved one is in safe hands, with trained staff who are friendly, caring and supportive.

Are there Any Refurbishments Happening

Yes, there are.

Currently Ainslie House is being repainted.

The Friends of Inasmuch has just obtained Board approval (March 2016) for a tapestry to be hung at the front of Ainslie House.  Please visit this page regularly to obtain an update on this project.

Inasmuch is very well placed in case there is a fire emergency:

In case of a fire emergency there are currently very clear procedures in place and the staff attend mandatory fire and evacuation training on a biannual basis.

Our local Rural Fire Brigade annually undertake a training session at Inasmuch so they are fully aware of the facilities in case of a fire emergency they need to attend to.

One of our legal requirements is Inasmuch must be reviewed and assessed annually to obtain the "Annual Fire Safety Statement". Hence you can be rest assured if there is a fire emergency the staff are well trained and able to deal with the emergency in order to keep you safe.

Some of our staff are also members of our local Rural Fire Brigade and receive intensive ongoing training as a result of their membership to give you added peace of mind.

Is Ainslie House Accredited

Yes, and we're very proud to say that we regularly achieve 100% accreditation by the Australian Quality Agency. 

There are 4 Accreditation Standards we must meet and these are:

Standard 1 - Management Systems, Staffing and Organisational Development.
Standard 2 - Health and Personal Care.
Standard 3 - Resident Lifestyle.
Standard 4 - Physical Environment and Safe Systems

Accreditation is for 3 years and Ainslie House is accredited until 22nd August 2017.

Also the Australian Quality Agency regularly undertakes on the spot inspection visits, so you can be assured we are held to and meet the highest standards possible.
