Inasmuch Opportunity Shop

Located in 195 Jacobs Drive, opposite the RSL Club.

The Op Shop was originally located on Lots 9 and 10 River Road, Sussex Inlet, two streets back from the CBD area. There was a small fibro cottage on the land plus a little cabin nearby. Following the death of the owners, their family offered its use to the then Inasmuch Ladies Auxiliary for their fund raising activities.

In 1979, the property was purchased by Inasmuch. Several sheds were erected to store furniture items whilst the cottage was used for sales and the cabin as a collection and sorting base.

Due to problems experienced by volunteers in hot weather and restrictions on alterations because of the land being in a residential area, it was decided to purchase a large store opposite the Sussex Inlet RSL. This was accomplished in June 1998.

The old site was used to build six self care units known as   Nora Dewhirst Cottages.

The Op Shop closed its doors on River Road on 5 September 1998 and re-opened for business at the new site on 12 September 1998.

Originally funds from the Op Shop were used to buy necessities for the children's home. In later years income from the Op Shop has provided many facilities for the Inasmuch Caring Centre.

In addition, it has become a well known tourist attraction, a feature of life in the Inlet and a visible presence of the Inasmuch name in the main street.
